Restauran Pik Wah was given the Bib Gourmand recognition – an esteemed award celebrating the restaurant for its comforting and affordable food.

Established in 1971, Restaurant Pik Wah is located at the basement of the MABA (Malaysia Basketball Association) Building along Jalan Hang Jebat.

From its original location at Jaya Supermarket at Section 14, Petaling Jaya, Restauran Pik Wah was eventually bought over by the Oriental Group. Upon the closure of Jaya Supermarket, the new management took over the reins and relocated to its current location.

Honing over 40 decades of experience in the food and beverage industry, Pik Wah’s flavors lean towards the heavier side. But its taste profile is well-balanced without being overwhelmingly salty or otherwise.

Its banquet tables are draped in hues of crème and the magenta ribbon bow on the chairs complements the carpet with hints of red and gold hues.

Styled to look like a classic and nostalgic olden-day Chinese restaurant, this restaurant in Kuala Lumpur boasts a wide width and a seating capacity of approximately 80 tables.

Its banquet tables are draped in hues of crème and the magenta ribbon bow on the chairs complements the carpet with hints of red and gold hues. Its opulence is not over the top due to a lack of ceiling height. And yet its interior oozes with a sense of luxury fit for grand weddings.

Craving for home-styled cooking, we started with all-time favorites like the sweet and sour pork. The outer skin of the pork was crispy while the insides melted to luscious, juicy chunks bursting in rich flavors.

The aromatic wok hei in the fried egg with bitter gourd made this dish a delightful surprise.

Even diners not fond of vegetables would love the deep-fried shredded kai lan.

The deep-fried shredded kai lan was crispy like potato chips while the aromatic garlic chips complemented this pleasing dish.

Braised clay pot pork knuckles with mushrooms Pik Wah Chinese Restaurant in KL
Piping hot when served, the braised clay pot pork knuckles with mushrooms is not to be missed.

Their braised clay pot pork knuckles with mushrooms is another comforting dish steep in taste with hints of ginger and a good balance of vinegar.

As for their char siu (roasted sweet pork), Restoran Pik Wah’s offering is slightly different from the usual kopitiam stalls. The meat is not overly sweet and features a mild crunch that relents to a juicy marbling of fat and lean meat inside.

As for their 8-course Chinese sit-down dinner, their hot and cold starter dish teased our pallet to a roaring start.

The braised mushrooms with broccoli and fish maw was another soothing and mouthwatering dish.

Their longevity noodles showcased robust wok hei with a variety of mushrooms, bean sprouts, and shredded meat.

Prices

Prices are reasonable and higher than your usual Chinese restaurant.

However considering the ambiance, service standards, and quality of ingredients, Restoran Pik Wah is an authoritarian venue that draws admiration, making it ideal for business meetings and festive gatherings.
