About Summer Summer Farm
The meandering road to the campsite starts on a hill and takes you down with 2 steep descents. So drive slowly and engage in low gear to negotiate the hilly terrain.
With a name like Summer Summer Farm, it's easy to assume that this campsite is owned by a Malaysian. We're pleasantly surprised to learn that this sprawling site belongs to a foreigner who hires Orang Asli who speaks fluent English to upkeep its premise.
Getting to Summer Summer Farm
Summer Summer Farm is a camping site located 59 km from Petaling Jaya, with a driving time of 1 hour and 20 minutes. It's located about 10 km from Sungai Dua and not far from Hulu Tamu Eco Resort.
To get there, just key in Summer Summer Farm in Waze and take the Lebuhraya Selayang - Batu Caves route. This is the shortest route, passing through picturesque secondary forests, which are slowly replaced by booming developments.
Facilities
The facilities here are one of the best in Selangor with a different kind of charm that blurs the lines between luxury glamping and rugged camping.
Those who crave a relaxing getaway without breaking a sweat can rent pre-set-up glamping tents consisting of 3, 4, and 5-man tents. Hardcore campers who like to pitch their tents can rent a plot and bask amid unspoiled nature.
The campsite faces the Hulu Rening River. It’s the farthest campsite from the flock with nothing else upstream. So you can frolic in the crystal clear water while sharing the river with tiny fish. The stretch lining the campsite is relatively calm and suitable for children to wade for hours under adult supervision.
There is also an herb garden within walking distance. Each herb is labeled for educational purposes. But some, like the citronella, have wilted due to Malaysia's fickle weather, which swings between wet and dry.
Interestingly, the kitchen coop displays every name of its residents. Walk a little closer and these feathered friends cackle curiously in the presence of strangers.
The fish pond is located just behind the common dining area. The campsite warden leaves a tub of fish food for campers to feed them.
The restrooms here put many hotels to shame: they have hot showers with decent water pressure, a granite stone floor, and a metal rack to put clothes on. Body wash and shampoo are provided, as is toilet paper.
The cooking area is every camper's dream because you don't have to set up your kitchen outside your tent here. This saves space in your trunk. There is a built-in stove that can be lit with a lighter, and 2 portable stoves that you can fire up as well. There is a Coway water dispenser that dispenses hot and cold water, a 440-liter refrigerator, a pan, and other cooking utensils for meal preparation.
The Camping Grounds
Summer Sumer Farm has two expansive campsites (Suria and Purnama) located directly beside the river. Both campsites have direct access to the bathroom and kitchen, but from Purnama you can reach the toilet by a short flight of stairs. Each site has a campfire and plenty of chopped firewood.
Pro-tip: If the campsite is overly damp due to rain, use the paper egg holders in the kitchen to start your campfire. Purnama and Suria can accommodate 20 people each or up to 7 tents, depending on the size of your tent. The sites are at least 40 meters from the river and are on higher land. So you don't have to worry about the water overflowing the banks in case of heavy rain.
The campsite takes refuge under a lush canopy of verdant trees. This makes the campsite cooler during the day than the dining area. Nighttime is a symphony of insects and chirping crickets, accompanied by the lulling sounds of running river water. And when it rains early in the morning, the sound of raindrops pattering on the tent makes sleeping a pure pleasure.
The 400-meter of grassy land that separates the two campsites is the perfect playground for children to frolic, play and picnic. Lay out a mat to play card and board games, read a book or soak in the scenery under the starry sky full of good memories.
Campsite Distance To Parking Area
The Purnama lot has a parking strip that can fit 3 cars, while the Suria lot can take 4 cars.Other cars must park near the chicken coop, which is about 80 meters away on the hill.
Phone Coverage
The phone coverage at this private campsite in Selangor is good, although the network connection may occasionally be interrupted. When that happens, reboot your phone and give it a few minutes to reconnect. Generally, campers using Maxis and Digi haven't had any major network problems.
Price
The price per plot is RM 988 per night divided by the number of adults. To reduce the cost per person, you'll need to bring along as many camping buddies with you, up to a maximum of 20 people. Since children 7 years old and above are considered adults, the cost per pax for our entourage of 14 adults and 2 children is RM 70.60 per night. If you want to rent the glamping domes where the tents are set up, be prepared to pay more.
For pure campers and considering the fully equipped facilities, the price is reasonable.

The well-thought placement of the facilities and the distance of the campsites from the hills and the river minimize the risk of bad weather. The facilities exceed expectations. But if you're camping for more than one night, be sure to include some activities to keep yourself and your kids occupied.
